Event Purpose

The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse was founded by myself, Harlow Heslop. It has been around since December 2009, and has been a familiar home for many Second Life Residents across the grid. We have hosted countless parties, live musical events, poetry events, game nights, and more. Many second life residents have called the cafe home for years, and it has been in many ways a virtual haven for people to meet others in a kind & friendly environment.

Due, to my limited budget means, I have not been able to put as much back into the coffeehouse as I have liked. We have so many gracious residents who give back often to our donation cups sitting around the cafe, and every penny of that I put towards our land tier, and events that take place at the venue. That being said, I am making a conscious effort to not only improve the coffeehouse, but also create a more up-to-date environment, as well as increase our events that take place at the cafe.

After a lot of contemplation and encouragement from others I decided to get the community involved in our improvements, and also come up with a way for there to be incentive for those who participate. We are doing a Pixel Bean Date Auction!

How the Date Auction Will Work

The date auction will be set up with a lot of flexibility for those who decide to be bid on. Those who join the bid board will have a detailed NC to fill out which will include a list of their personal tastes, a little about themselves, what can be expected on the date, and their own personal do's and dont's. Date expectations will be mapped out very specifically to avoid drama, confusion, or discomfort. Those who are being bid on may also offer exclusive products, or trades they may be talented at. For example a designer could offer a small exclusive item or gift card along with their date, or a photographer could offer a package or portraits, etc...

The date auction boards will be up for two full weeks. Open bidding will take place during this time. If someone outbids a previous bidder, 100% of the previous bidders money will be returned to them. The highest bidder at the end of open bidding will win the date.

Profits will be split 50/50. 50% of the highest bid will go to the person who was bid on. You may use this money in any way you please! The other 50% will go directly into The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse's account, under the avatar PixelBean Resident. This half will be put completely towards the coffeehouse renovations, as well as future events and venue costs.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is meant to be fun, drama free, and beneficial to The Pixel Bean Coffeehouse. It is also meant to be a light hearted event for people in the community to participate, and also earn a little spending money for themselves! If you under any circumstance are not comfortable giving money to this event, or feel at all skeptical of where the funds will be going, please do not participate or donate.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: If you feel you are the type of person who may experience hurt feelings due to low bid numbers on your board, or jealousy over bidding, this may not be the event for you! We are looking for individuals who don't care about their bid numbers, who are looking for some light hearted fun, and just want to participate in helping out a community venue.

After the two weeks of bidding have ended, we will end the event with a DJ'd reveal party. At the reveal party we will announce bid winners and who they have won. At this point in time it is 100% the person on the bid boards responsibility to get in touch with the bid winner and set up a time and place for your "date", or whatever expectations you listed on your information note card.

If you are still interested, simply click an available bid board and follow the instructional NC that is passed to you. You will need a photo (square dimension is best for viewing) and a detailed NC about yourself and your expectations for your date!
