[Terrain]: The edges of the island are lined with smooth, sandy beaches. But these beaches only stretch for about 30 feet before the terrain suddenly shifts to a vast, luscious, and colorful jungle. The canopy overhead blocks out most sunlight, and the jungle floor is covered in bright green plants. The trees are filled with colorful fruits and flowers, though as delicious as they might seem it's probably better not to touch them...the food in these trees is poisonous. Prowling about the jungle are all kinds of animals, but they aren't the kind of animals you'd see in your science books. There are large, bulky tigers with two tails, saber teeth, and horns on their heads. There are monkeys with wings! There are armadillos with armored plates on their backs and bony club tails they can use to knock down trees. Basically if it looks like a monster you might run into in a random RPG encounter, it's here. Thankfully, running into one of these creatures is rare so you can wander around the jungle without getting offed by one, which is good because the true draw of the island isn't the jungle. It's the numerous amounts of ruined temples found within it. It's not hard to find one, because they are everywhere. The runes carved into the walls and around the entrances to each one are from a culture that you certainly haven't seen before. Inside each ruin is a twisting labyrinth of passages, each one lined with traps and barriers that prevent the intrepid explorer from moving on. Arrows in the walls that fire when you trip a wire? Check. Pits with spikes in them? Check. A door that refuses to open unless you hold hands with someone and tell them three things you like about them? ...Uh, check! BASICALLY the traps and obstacles can be as dangerous or as silly as someone pleases, and they range from anything to your standard RP truth effects to INDIANA JONES STYLE BOULDERS!1 Beware that three-piece monkey statue that you have to assemble in less than thirty seconds OR ELSE. Why would anyone put themselves through such a dangerous (or potentially embarrassing) journey, you ask? Well... At the end of the labyrinth of each temple is a treasure room, which will always contain some sort of treasure. It could be a chest filled with gold. It could be a huge ruby that would fetch a nice price back at the Isla Empieza. Heck, it could be a fancy artifact of some kind you could use to decorate your ship with. Either way, braving the dangerous jungle and the vast tunnels of the temple will be highly rewarding for anyone tough enough to make it through. Essentially this island exists to give RPG characters and the tomb raiding, adventurous type a chance for some fun, customized dungeon crawling with rewards at the end. [Weather]: The weather on this island is very similar to that of a tropical rainforest. It's hot, humid, wet, and rains very frequently (though moreso in the rainy season). [Is the island inhabited?]: No. Unless you count the animals and monsters. [If so, what is the culture like here?]: Nine times out of the ten the monsters might try to eat you. [Island peculiarities]: Even if someone enters a temple and manages to secure the treasure from the treasure room, if someone else comes in after them and makes it that far there will be another treasure for them to find. Where does it come from? Nobody knows... |
