“It’s late,” Liam announces, checking his watch. “Shit. It’s *too* late.”

Milo sighs, because this is the third time in an hour that Liam has mentioned how late it is. And yet, he’s made no attempt to actually *move*.

“I thought you wanted to see the fireworks,” he says into Liam’s hair. “We won’t be able to see them from the dorm.”

“I want to see the fireworks and *not* get into trouble,” Liam clarifies, throwing his head back against Milo’s shoulder. “Is that too much to ask?”

A lot of things seem to be too much to ask. In Liam’s world, being with someone you love and *not* getting disinherited is too much to ask. Privately, Milo thinks that Liam doesn’t ask for enough, and he certainly doesn’t *get* enough.

But Milo can’t fix that. Not everything can be resolved with big blue eyes and exemplary acting skills, otherwise he and Liam would already be living in a castle somewhere overlooking the sea.

“No,” Milo tells him, and takes his hand. “Don’t worry about it. If we get into trouble, I’ll take all the blame.”
