<lj-cut text="THE CHILDREN'S WAR">

THE CHILDREN'S WAR
This seems to be based on Octavia & Alan; it obviously never names them directly, but a lot of the subject matter parallels their activity. It doesn't present them in a positive (or particularly negative) light, focusing more on the question as to why they've been drawn in to a war in the first place and why they need to fight. It also doesn't outright slight others for not fighting, but it calls for them to realize that it's going on in the first place, and not in the way they think it is. Heavy emphasis is on the fact that a lot of the so-called terrorism simply couldn't be to the magnitude that Certain Parties claim it is- a lack of skills, experience, and otherwise ability proves it. To see the world through the eyes of a child is to see it for what it really is, in this case.

"When it is the children who are on the forefronts of a war, then it has already been lost in the most important of ways."

</LJ-CUT>

<lj-cut text="A IS FOR ASSAULT">A IS FOR ASSAULT
This one talks about recent police violence (such as the so-called drug raid on the school) and the rise of gang activity near the Dead District (why are they focusing on these other things instead of that important one!!!!11one). It discusses other instances of police violence and corruption in the past, while noting that it only takes one or two 'monsters' to machinate such a disaster (indirectly absolving most of the individual officers of responsibility while still shaming the group as a whole for not taking action). And how about that attack on a local clinic that caters to those who need it most? Where were the police then?

"What lessons can we take from this? That we cannot trust the ones who have sworn to guard us? No; that we must work together to create a united front against these atrocities, to stand up as a whole in protest and behind those who have already made to defend us, who even now are persecuted for their bravery..."

And of course there's one about the Thunder Corp. Why not? It's not the first time that a big company has hidden some bigger secrets (ENRON ANYONE), and it highlights the dumping of the Pink Stuff and bombings for example. Part of the essay actually serves as its own devil's advocate; bringing up the strongest arguments against Thunder Corp being involved...and then mercilessly tearing said arguments apart.

"I for one would be quite happy to be wrong, for all of this to be nothing more than paranoid conspiracy. But the fact remains that there are enough facts to at least raise questions - questions that are being oddly muffled in the sound of Thunder Corp's ever so efficient PR."

</LJ-CUT>
