Lets talk about fitted mesh and you. A bit of what I know about fitted mesh below, and I hope it will help you out in the future:
OfficiallyMoist
Unlike Qarls deformer, "fitted mesh" is done through weighting to new (and some older existing) bones on the SL avatar. The term "liquid mesh" is a branding name created by Redgrave and is the same as
OfficiallyMoist
Fitted mesh/fitted mesh project. Prior to it being supported the fitted mesh/liquid mesh was missing a few key bones. These bones prevented resizing of areas like the breasts and the butt.
OfficiallyMoist
Now lets move on to standards, and where do we go from here. Standard sizes will STILL be used. Your current items will not be broken and you WILL still see standards in the future.
OfficiallyMoist
The thing about fitted mesh is, it doesnt work on everything. Not like it should. There are certain fits and cuts that just work better with sizing.
OfficiallyMoist
A lot of skimpier items, strappless items, low cut items (under arms/lower hips) will probably still require the use of standard sizes.
OfficiallyMoist
So going forward, really dont rule out sizes, but consider both for your clothing purchases.
OfficiallyMoist
One size fits most:
OfficiallyMoist
When people see ONE SIZE, after a few years of having optional sizes, worry seems to set in. Will it fit? How can one small size fit me? Well its not like that. The sliders were built with ruth in mind
OfficiallyMoist
so because of this, its ideal to build around ruth to get the best results out of your sizing.
OfficiallyMoist
Mesh seems to do really well with minimal breakage at even the most extreme sizes, though there are a few caveats. Just like in the real world if you wear a shirt with words on it and have massive breasts,
OfficiallyMoist
the words are going to stretch and warp. Fact of life, and a fact of fitted mesh!
OfficiallyMoist
Creators, if you use blender you fitted is already supported and frequently updated with avastar. If you use maya, you can purchase mayastar on MP, or message cathy foil if you have purchased, to get an update
OfficiallyMoist
she is working on it currently, to the most recent release of the bones.
OfficiallyMoist
Lastly creators, I know there is this need to "wait until firestorm" get its. Early when mesh was developed, people didnt think it would take off. So they held off.
OfficiallyMoist
That is a BAD choice.
OfficiallyMoist
Take the time between now and firestorm picking it up to learn the new way to rig.
OfficiallyMoist
DONT WAIT. Get ahead of this, you will only have yourself to thank in the end. Hope this info helps <3
OfficiallyMoist
Oh also I should add: you will find yourself still messing with your shape with mesh. Think of it like putting on a system skirt, and if you have wide hips, that system skirt will make them look
OfficiallyMoist
much wider, because you are adding on more bulk.
