Buraiha does the reminders at the beginning of the play. It starts with Odasaku looking for the other two, but when he finally finds them, he does most of the reminders anyway with Dazai chiming in, Is it my turn yet? a lot. Then there's an opening dance numbers with all cast members except Ranpo. It opens with taints holding books and Dazai failing at getting any of the books back from them. Then the other authors come in, wordlessly take the books from the taints and eventually they fall all down. When the authors start waking up, they have no idea what's going on. Ranpo was apparently the first alchemist transmigrated, so he acts as the librarian stand-in and does a lot of exposition. When he first appears, he does so in the audience, specifically right behind where my sister and roommate were sitting. He gives the basic rundown of the plot, explaining that the taints are destroying literature and if they succeed then great works of literature will disappear, but not just the work themselves, also the influence and effect they have on the people reading them.

If I remember correctly, it's Dazai, Haruo, Odasaku, Ango,... and then I don't remember whether Akutagawa or Shirakabaha wake up next. I also don't remember when Chuuya appears at all, whoops. Might be Akutagawa next, but forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly. Either way, there's a great scene where Dazai realizes Akutagawa is there and runs over to him, trying to gather Akutagawa's cigar smoke to inhale it. He also asks Akutagawa to do the chin in hand pose and Akutagawa humors him and he dies and starts doing his own version of the pose. It's dumb. And before Ranpo appears, while everyone is confused, there's a great scene where Dazai is like I FIGURED OUT THE CAUSE OF ALL THIS! IT MUST BE THANKS TO MY FANS! literally everyone, including the taints, collapse except Shiga so Dazai gets to be like AHHHH YOU THINK YOU'RE HOT STUFF, ACTUALLY SINCE YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO DIDN'T COLLAPSE, YOU'RE THE UNCOOL ONE and Shiga be like, don't care.

Ranpo reveals that the first book to be tainted is none other than "Hana/Nose" by Akutagawa, and this lights a fire under Dazai's ass, who is like I'LL GO SAVE "NOSE" LET ME DIVE INTO "NOSE" IMMEDIATELY to which everyone continues to feel exasperated. He convinces the rest of the Buraiha to delve with him but then insists they sit back and let him handle everything so they can attest to how he single handedly saved "Nose" and then vouch for how he definitely deserves the Akutagawa Prize posthumously. They listen to him a little too well, and even when he starts needing help, they don't join in the fray. Shirakabaha winds up arriving to save the day.

「......原來你看得到我啊」“斬過女鬼的靈刀，看不到也很奇怪吧？”「原來如此...那，你要斬我嗎？」旁人看不到的灰衣少女冷笑道，“吶，等你作亂才會吧？不過別的刀也能感到你的氣息，自己小心點吧。”「這裡...有多少像你一樣的靈刀啊？」“嘛，靈刀目前只有我一個，倒是御神刀有三把呢～ 是說，你為什麼會來這裡？”「...我想來看我的刀，可是我不清楚她在哪裡...」“那妳等等要跟著我嗎？午飯時間過後”「那我會先待在這裡。你快去吧，到時候又被罵了」“...好，先失陪” 她是怎麼知道晚去會被教訓的？...不管了，到時候還能問她。
“你再不來我可要把菜收起來了”歌仙兼定板著臉，“好啦好啦我知道，歌仙真像媽媽呢” “...快去吃飯” ...結果還是被罵了。
午飯結束，青江走回原處，看見那抹灰靠柱而坐，“你在看什麼？”他故意少女靠近耳邊，輕聲說道「...！......沒什麼」 “這就是妳的刀嗎？光澤很特殊” 「我就是因為它的光澤才買的，其他的刀都沒有這種顏色的光」“她叫什麼？”「...我不清楚，就依她光澤取名為 "綠" 了」“...能借我看一下嗎？” 少女交出手上的刀。握把的材質與刀工，都讓青江認定這絕對不是日本的刀，“你是在哪裡買到這把刀的？” 「...日本啊，大概一百年前買的吧。」“是嗎...”「怎麼了嗎？」“沒，不是什麼重要的事” 
一陣靜默後，他感到衣角被扯動，「刀子...可以還我了嗎？還有他們快來了，看到你拿著一把不知名的刀子會疑惑的」“我說，你是怎麼知道的，五虎退的行動，還有晚去會被教訓這件事”「...念力。死掉之後就有的，有了之後什麼事都能做」少女一把搶過刀，「他來了，還帶著另一個人」五虎退從長廊另一端出現，身後跟著小夜左文字。“要去哪裡，為我帶路吧” “好、好的” 三個人，呃不對， “四個人” 沿著長廊，來到一處樓梯，走上二樓，往一處角落前進，“這裡應該沒有人住吧？” “有的喔” 五虎退走向轉角的拉門，“綠，我們把笑面先生帶來囉～” 『好的，請他進來』青江看向灰衣少女，「怎麼了？」“聲音...很像呢” 『你就是笑面青江先生嗎？』“是的” 『......主人在你旁邊對吧？』

“青江桑，能打擾你一下嗎？” 石切丸叫住了笑面青江，“御神刀大人有何吩咐？” “...你也有發現對吧？” “發現什麼～？不講清楚我可是不知道的哦” “...最近本丸有不明靈體出沒，你應該能感覺得到吧？” 青江唇邊的角度加深，“是呀，最近很常看到一個灰色的身影呢～真讓人好奇他要來這個本丸做什麼，難道是偷窺我們嗎～？” “鬼對神都是敬而遠之吧，不排除那個靈體想傷害主上” 石切丸沉思後的話語讓他也不得不認真起來，“所以...你跟太郎太刀要加強對本丸的淨化是嗎？” “都有不明靈體穿過結界進來了，也只能這樣做了。是說，你能來一起幫忙嗎？” “斬了幼子的靈刀...恐怕不適合吧？”石切丸正要說服眼前的大脇差，“不過我會多注意"它"在哪裡的”，青江便走遠了。
午飯時間前，五虎退找到了青江，正在拜託他幫忙一件事。“那、那個...笑面先生，今天下午有事嗎？” “沒有，怎麼了？” “呃...想拜託你一件事” “有什麼事呢？” “...笑面先生是斬過女幽靈的靈刀，對吧？” “...是的” “有人說，她想跟自己的主人交流，可是不知道該怎麼辦；我跟她說，"或許跟鬼魂有些淵源的刀能跟你的主人對談"她聽了就希望我能把你帶過去，透過你跟自己的主人交流...您願意答應嗎，笑面先生...？” “居然是想見自己的主人啊...也好，總比一直斬鬼好吧。我答應你，什麼時候要去？” “午飯時間過後...可以嗎？” “ 那就午飯過後，在這裡集合，是吧？”五虎退點了點頭，“我知道了，到時候再見吧。你的兄弟在等著你呢。”語畢，笑面青江遙遙指向走廊另一端的身影。“啊，好、好的，我先走了”
青江看著五虎退走遠的身影，幽幽的說，“是說，你也偷聽了很久吧”他面向身旁的空氣說，“你究竟有何意圖，小姐？”

壓切長谷部在鍛刀房裡忙了一整天，審神者早已睡癱在地上，卻一直鍛出重覆的刀。資源所剩不多，長谷部心一橫，把僅剩的材料全交給刀匠。
當刀匠把材料丟入火中，他皺著眉頭，“...奇怪？” “怎麼了嗎？” “那個...有鍛造25分鐘的刀子嗎？” 長谷部看向時間欄， "00:24:35" 這串詭異的數字映入眼簾。 
“主上，主上！快起來！這把刀很奇怪！” “...不要搖那麼大力啦，都快吐了...欸？！25分鐘！？我記得沒有這種時間的刀子啊！長谷部你是怎麼調配方的！” “我只是把剩下的材料都給刀匠啊......那麼，主上”，審神者一臉疑惑，“什麼事？” “要用手傳札再刀解他嗎？” “也只能這麼做了” 一片薄木被扔進鍛刀爐，時間變回 00:00:00，一道綠光射出，“主上小心！”長谷部用肉身擋住審神者，本體已出鞘，緊握在手。
一個嬌小的身影站在刀爐前，草綠的眼瞳緩緩睜開，“這裡...是哪裡？”
