So with Allison, and powers...

I think the 'I heard a rumor...' trigger was possibly largely Hargeeves doing. We're going with the monocle showing what they can all do, and I figure it would be simple enough to train her that it was necessary for their use. Then you have a warning built in, and thus it becomes easier to control her. Or at least be aware of what she's doing.

I'm seeing stupid kid stuff abuse of powers when she's little that probably turns to her promising to never rumor her siblings. (if we assume this happens, that makes Vanya's lashing out that touch more understandable, because it has to make it feel like a total betrayal.)

When she leaves home, she tries, for a little while, without using her powers, but the fact that she can so easily turn failure into success, the fact she can convince herself that if she just gets her foot in the door... and it snowballs.

She meets Patrick on set, one thing leads to another and it happens without her influence, at least at first. It's habit, moreso when she's tired and frustrated and pregnant, and she becomes reliant; always talking herself around into it being okay, little, harmless things to stress everyone out that much less - including her daughter once she's born.

Patrick suspects, but doesn't know for sure until he witnesses something, and everything falls slowly to pieces.
