Warnings: character death, mention of blood and corpses. Don’t think about how before they all go to sleep, Imogen goes to Ashton and asks him to unwrap Laudna. Ashton just takes one glance at her and very gently and carefully unwraps the cloth around Laudna’s body without saying another word. Don’t think about how Imogen just lies on the dirt beside Laudna, taking her hand and cradling it so tenderly in her hands. Noticing how the pale skin looks even paler than usual and colder than usual. Don't think about how when she turns, her eyes landing on the dried patch of black on her blouse, and silently casts Prestidigitation and the blouse returns to its dark red. Don't think about how she wraps her arms around Laudna’s waist and pulls her close, just like how Laudna had...has always done for her every single night for the past two years. Don't think about how she closes her eyes, trying to ignore how her hand brushes against the cold, far too cold skin, through that one long tear in the middle of her blouse and in that moment wishing that she knew Mending too. Don’t think about how the rest of Bell’s Hells just takes a look at Imogen and just look away, all deciding to give her the privacy she needs. Fearne looks as if she wants to go over to Imogen and say something but feels a tug at her knees. She looks down to see Orym shaking his head gently, eyes full of understanding and a pain, similar to the one she sees in Imogen, reflected in his green ones. Don’t think about how Imogen is the first one to wake, unable to sleep much becuase she fears seeing Laudna walk into the red storm, lying there silently, straining her ears to hear for the tell-tale sign of the rattling of slow breaths she has grown uses to. But there was nothing save for the loud snoring from Chetney and odd spinning of blades from FCG, who was keeping watch over all of them Don’t think about Imogen once again reaching out with her mind in the dark, desperately trying to hear that familiar melody again. Cold silence meets her. Don’t think about how a few hours later, Ashton looks silently to Imogen, the blue paragon’s call flag in his hand. And only when Imogen gives a small, barely noticeable nod and turns her face away, does Ashton once again carefully wraps it around Laudna’s body, lifting her up and carrying her with them. The Bells Hells will be together once again, if they have anything to say about it. |
