What Christmas Means to Me

Forty or so years ago, I received a Christmas card from a couple with a new baby. On the front of the card was the word "Joy."

In the time since, I've thought about the joy of Christmas, a time of celebrating the birth of a child. And I've pondered, "What is the lesson we are to learn from a newborn baby?"

The answer, the meaning of Christmas to me, is that in loving a vulnerable, innocent infant, we demonstrate our capacity to love unconditionally.

That we can love unselfishly without expecting love in return gives me great hope.

And so, I wish you love and the ability to love. May you have a very merry lovely Christmas.
