It's been a long time since The Veil fell. Long enough that that the idea that we all lived separately once feels like a dream. When we realized that wrought metal burned the fairies, we asked to be taught how to coax the trees and stones to shape themselves. When we realized that so many vampires would rather starve than hurt their neighbors, we figured out how to synthesize artificial blood. When we realized the devastation of a rampage was felt just as keenly by the werewolves as their prey, we invented calming drugs to help them stay in control. When we realized even the most violent hauntings and demonic manifestations were born of the pain in our own hearts, we created a whole new field of psychology to ensure that trained professionals could give them the closure and solace they needed.

As great as the strides society has already made are, there's still always more that can be done. That's Rhiannon's calling, and her passion. As a freelance therapist and occult accessibility advocate, she roams the world looking for communities where she's needed. With her gwyllgi Glenda at her side, they sniff out impending disasters both big and small, finding their way into the lives of those in need with an almost uncanny sense of timing. It's difficult work, coming to learn about so many different creatures' cultures and needs so intimately; they don't always arrive in time, or have the right words or tools to help people. Not everyone even *wants* her meddling in their affairs, when she seems nothing but an arrogant stranger offering only pity and condescension. But she cares too deeply to give up without a fight--and when she *does* manage to help, she grows to love her clients like her own family.

If only she could stay, and not just stay in touch. But how could she ever truly be happy putting down roots, when she knows there's still so much good to be done, and so many more friends yet to meet?
