PHIListine Okay. Bear with me here, please.
PHIListine The game starts. Things are looking good.
PHIListine A month goes by, nothing happens. It's a bit odd.
PHIListine You can look at the Mod HMD on the HMD Meme and see that I mentioned stuff about not seeing much of a mod presence.
PHIListine You, Lock and Aly had all... pretty much disappeared, and Missa did most everything by the end of the month.
PHIListine She puts out a request for mod apps.
PHIListine "I want to see this game not die because I like it a lot." So I send one in.
PHIListine I get in. Woah. Pretty cool.
ADAECHI i understand your intentions were good, but this was not the way to handle things
PHIListine I don't mean to be rude, but I'm going to finish before responding to that.
PHIListine So, I get shiny mod status. Pretty cool and stuff.
PHIListine Joh sends out an email with ideas and stuff to help make the game better.
PHIListine I reply. We go back and forth another time or so, nothing from Missa.
PHIListine We finally get a reply out of Missa when we tell her in a private plurk that "there are emails you should read in the mod account".
PHIListine Her responses gave a feel of "Even though I'm the head mod, I still want to run these things by Dae and Aly."
PHIListine Which, while reasonable enough, was just kind of odd because the head mod is able to make decisions about thiiiings.
PHIListine And then Missa hiatuses from the game?
PHIListine Like, imagine kind of how that looks for me.
PHIListine "Oh, here's a mod spot, now the head mod is going to be hard to get in contact with."
PHIListine And I understand that yes, she has a life, yes, she does things, and no, I wouldn't expect her or anyone else to devote all their time
PHIListine to a darn RP.
PHIListine But we tried to get in touch with her for the entirety of the rest of that week.
PHIListine We set up a rough AIM Chatroom date. She never showed up.
PHIListine It was to the point where any and all questions, concerns, ideas, or ANYTHING that we had about mod things were better aimed at one another,
PHIListine instead of at Missa.
PHIListine And all the while (yes, a week is a short time frame) people were dropping, activity was declining, and everything was going downhill.
PHIListine And HONESTLY? We felt like scapegoats for the fact that the original mods up and decided they didn't want to be mods anymore.
PHIListine It was over a damn MONTH before anything happened in game.
PHIListine And then we get thrown right into being Mods without any real guidance or direct interaction from Missa.
PHIListine And so Joh and I talk.
PHIListine We agreed that Missa, while she did a fucking amazing job being a mod for that month, had completely disappeared on us.
PHIListine And we were left to pick up the pieces, being told we had "a certain degree of autonomy".
PHIListine Meanwhile, there were anywhere from one to five people dropping per day.
PHIListine So we went "this is a problem, what can we do."
PHIListine And we decided, even though it would be a risky and likely terribly conceived idea, that it would be best to bump Missa from modship.
PHIListine We knew that yes, people would probably drop because of it.
PHIListine But honestly, we hoped that if it actually happened? That we could do some amazing things.
PHIListine So we went through with it.
PHIListine The plan was never "completely remove the old mods from the game".
PHIListine The plan was never "come off as complete and utter asshats and put what is likely the final nail into the game's coffin".
PHIListine The plan was simply "make it so that this game might not have a chance of going up in flames and wank."
PHIListine Or, no, that sounds stupid and doesn't convey the right words.
PHIListine It was "don't let it die". To make it simpler.
PHIListine And honestly? The fact that apparently the original Caligo mods barely even seemed invested in their own game didn't help matters.
PHIListine So. Do you see where we came from with this a little more?

DISAPPOINTED!! i don't think any amount of explaining regarding what happened is really going to help the situation

PHIListine Oh, I know. I've already dropped out of the game because I doubt anyone would want anything to do with me in that game.

ADAECHI i'll be honest, i pretty much knew where you were coming from before you said all that. there were a lot of issues with modship and frankly

ADAECHI something did need to be done about it. aly and i didn't have as much time as we did before, overestimated our own abilities, etc.

PHIListine Yeah. That part of it? Stupidly done. Won't disagree with that.
ADAECHI but this is still an unacceptable way to go about trying to help the game. you've admitted that you were trying to keep the game from dying

ADAECHI and yet you also admitted that you knew doing this was going to cause people to drop

DISAPPOINTED!! yeah it kinda sounds like you already knew it was going to be something that caused wank, lol, which is why it's even worse
PHIListine And so was doing nothing. We were willing to take the immense risk of causing drops with that course of action.
PHIListine We knew that people wouldn't agree with it at face value. We hoped they would just think about it instead of flipping out.
PHIListine Even though flipping out is the clearly reasonable reaction.
DISAPPOINTED!! but even thinking about it, it's still ... not ... okay .... lmao
DISAPPOINTED!! like i said, i'm not in caligo and i have no emotional attachment to this game either way
PHIListine Well, yeah. I fully acknowledge that it was a very Not Okay action.
ADAECHI sometimes doing nothing is better than doing something
DISAPPOINTED!! but as someone who modded a big game for three years, that's just something you don't do, even if you're desperate
PHIListine We were just foolishly optimistic about something we should have thought through a little better.
PHIListine Yes, Dae, and doing nothing would have pretty much killed the game.
DISAPPOINTED!! if there were really problems, you should have given the other mods a chance to discuss and explain themselves, even if it took awhile
PHIListine As I said, there were 1-5 drops per day.
DISAPPOINTED!! to get a hold of them
PHIListine Yes, I acknowledge that.
PHIListine It was poorly executed. Thought out with all the consideration of something incredibly rude and boorish.
PHIListine And it's still a Not Okay thing that we did.
PHIListine I acknowledge all of that. Reiterating it will only make me feel worse about all this.
PHIListine But Dae asked for an explanation, so he got it.
