kazuki!! i'm pretty sure this cr exists like entirely because of the w1 cyoa lmao...

friendship is generally not a thing todomatsu does, he's all about having a wide circle of acquaintances without knowing much about them -- he doesn't want to share details of his own personal life because he's ashamed of it and he's really not interested in anyone else's!

with kazuki at the beginning he was just like, ok, here's a perfectly normal guy that i can hang out with and have normal conversations about music and clothes and stuff with. which was nice and reassuring in its familiarity, and therefore it was also the most like his typical home relationships at first. pretty shallow and also like......... he's really obsessed with his image and paranoid about being perceived poorly relative to anyone else, so while being perfectly polite and friendly with them, his friends are also kind of his enemies to some extent lmfao. there's this guy atsushi that he's known since high school and they both invite each other to events and stuff but atsushi is a lot more successful and cooler than him and it pisses him off so much. and i think he was very, like... alert to the fact that kazuki was younger and cooler than he was and probably also wanted to be on his good side specifically because he saw him as a social threat lmao.

then the cyoa happened!! and they were the two that didn't have any powers and each got paired with one of the other two specifically because of that, and i think they probably both shared the "hm this suddenly makes me feel kind of pathetic for being a normie" feeling to some extent... actually these pairings are kind of funny now that i think about it because kazuki ended up closer to temenos and todomatsu ended up closer to owner... anyway, he really did kind of side-eye kazuki for going off on his own and took that as a sign of questionable judgment under pressure that he held onto for a while lol.

but once it was over, everyone was fucked up and they'd all seen part of each other's personal lives, and todomatsu did NOT talk about his family or home life like, at all before that, so just by virtue of that fact they were all immediately some of the closest people to him even if they weren't necessarily going to talk about it. he is not an empathetic person at all but since they had literally all shared that experience he was a lot more so than usual, and was pretty aware of how kazuki was feeling and reacting to things because he was feeling similarly. and then plant trauma kept resurfacing and anyone outside their group would have thought they were insane for getting so bent out of shape about flowers lmao so there was more bonding from that... the fact that they ended up doing the hydroponics mini cyoa together is still the funniest thing.

and then yeah, memshares finally actually provided some context for who they'd seen during cyoa (since they sure hadn't actually talked about it!) and i think gave them each a better understanding of who they were and what they cared about. he also genuinely did appreciate kazuki a lot for being the only person from their group to show up to the spa for curfew that week lmao i feel like that was honestly what finally solidified him as a friend.

he was totally jealous of him getting those temporary powers in the final week because it really did feel like he was getting left behind by like, the only other completely unremarkable person there, but he mostly got over it... and he did appreciate him being concerned and trying to help after the rosamund disaster even though he really didn't want to talk about it with someone who wasn't a romantic failure themselves gfhjlkjsgd

ANYWAY this cr ended up being one of the biggest surprises for me and i enjoyed it a lot!!! and this was a lot more than i thought i was going to write help
