一天，兔子挖洞遇見看守財寶的龍，
Burrowed deep into the ground, a rabbit met a dragon watching over treasures in his den.

他馬上爲打擾了龍而道歉，表示自己沒有打金子的主意。
Immediately the rabbit applogized for breaking his privacy and said he had no interest in stealing his gold.

不過他很好奇爲什麼龍會在這裏。
He was curious as to why the dragon was there.

於是他問道，
And so he asked,

「龍啊，有什麼報酬能讓你不眠不休，在陰暗中消磨壽命？」
”Dragon, what reward is worth keeping you awake and consuming your life in this everlasting darkness?”

「什麼都沒有，」龍如此回答。
"Tis not my profit here to stay," answered the dragon.

「我只是出於喜愛才這樣做的。」
"I do it out of love."

兔子意識到，龍是自願的。
He was doing this on his will, the rabbit realized.

即使這些財寶對龍來說毫無用處，
Even if these treasures were of no use to the dragon,

他依然對此感到快樂和滿足。
he was happy with what he was loving,

他就這樣守着財寶，直到兔子偶然闖入此地。
thus he guarded the treasure until a rabbit broke into his den.
