I want to say that I am all for the idea of changing things up in the remakes and actually prefer to have some differences instead of just reprise of the same line and scenes (what’s the fun in that? ; ) I also completely agree that even in a love story, well developed connection of the other side characters are still essential to give us a more comprehensive understanding of the different facets of our protagonist’s character. I also knew of the restrictive time you were given from your BTS so honestly the length of the clips didn’t really faze me at first because a well written story doesn’t have to be long to be effective. So I was generally OK with the less screen time and lines Eliott got or a changes of conversations between Elu as long as we still gets glimpse of their characters and relationships development. For example, Not making and messing up a French cuisine is totally okay because we have a AWESOME Piano flirt scene instead. However, I can’t help but become a little uneasy because I noticed that in the last episode a very important moment where we first saw the nonjudgmental nature and bluntness of Original Even with him being forefront and calling out gay stereotype was given to Alexia to say to Chloe instead of Eliott...I felt that we loss a great moment that could highlight the dynamic of the jealousy and rivary of Eliott and Emma AND also a gateway into his thinking and beliefs. Don’t get me wrong, so far I am loving the change made to develop a openly Bi and proud Alexia and the additional lesson she taught Lucas in the foyer about the spectrum and misconceptions of bisexuals was great, but giving that moment and line to her feeds into my fear that more development of other characters when you are working with a already limited time may come in the expense of Eliott’s characters development. In my opinion, what made the original EVAK story so memorable and beloved was because that story was as much about Even as it is about Isak. Even was not just a romantic love interest to Isak’s story that propelled Isak's growth... he is also a very intriguing and charming HERO of that story.It takes the TWO of them to make this love story epic. I would even go as far to say that SKAM S3 is liked because it depicts a boy’s journey of growth and struggle to come to term with his identify very well, but it is LOVED because it is ultimately a fucking epic romance about two people who are flawed learning to embraces their own vulnerabilities and sacrifices for love and people are really sucker for something like this that no longer happen so much nowadays. So I guess what it is I am trying to say is that I really wish the focus is more on Elliott and Lucas, (like Elu 70: lucas-others 30) given that the time is already limited, but I understand that SKAMFr writing team might want to have different portion of allocation of resources( maybe like 60:40 or 50:50? ) and will respect the team’s decision. and really it is only the 3rd episode, so maybe I am getting spooked too early...so I AM still looking forward to the different but still exciting rest of this season!
