1 2 3 4 5 | Saw the doctor who stitched me up and so far...pretty good. She says the abrasions and edges of the stitches look really good. There are some concerns about the center (which might be because it's been kept covered aside from dressing changes, so we're letting it dry out when I'm home) and the edema in my lower leg (which is most likely a trauma response, but if it gets worse could prompt an ultrasound). If nothing happens with either of those, I will next see her a week from today and she should be able to both have an idea of whether the race is doable and give a firm stitch-removal date. Earliest possible date for that would be Tuesday but she might give it 14 days, which would be 8 before Wineglass haha yay 🙃 In the meantime I should have no more need for the immobilizer by the weekend and I'm going to start taking some gentle walks to bend the knee a little, just not all the way. One day at a time. If I have to scratch Wineglass I am sure I will have a big cry and another round of self-recrimination but I've also eyed backup races later in the month should it come to that. Next marathon can I please have a boring training cycle? No months of PT or dramatic injuries please lol. |
