She was staring more at her reflection in the viewing window than the ruffled male, unsure why she felt her heart curl at the sight of the doctors sedating him. Crawling on him as if h were a beast, some kind of animal that didn’t deserve the rights of a human. Katherine stood among the doctos she once hated—the ones she ran away from, clutching his hand and never stopping. She gently brushed her fingertips against the glass. Regis Bugundy—were you always this much of a problem and she was too blind to see it? Or has she been blinded? Kat’s eyes faltered to the clipboard in her hand, checking off the clinical typed letters, etching off a box that wrote: NOT APPROVED FOR RELEASE. Her hands were shaking. She couldn’t even sign the paper. “Dr.Couvillion?” One of the nurses came in, huffing out of breath. “Miss, he’s injured one of the doctors—we can’t have him—“ Kat interrupted before the woman could even finish. “Yes. I know.” She sounded almost aggressive. As if it was her last ditch effort to preserve the Regis in her mind. The one that loved her. The one who would hurt someone, but only for her. The one who swore to be with her forever. She had to preserve at least one concept about him. One memory, unadulterated by realization that she was nothing but a silly teenager. But was she? She was doubting herself. She didn’t even realize when the woman left, smoothing the curls on her face back. “I want someone to make sure that they don’t leave him on the floor. He likes to be under the bed.” She insisted to the nurse, as she left the observation chamber, holding back the tears which started to stream down her face the moment she opened the door. |
