'The war against everyone's common enemy has been reignited. Their return has been heralded with the erosion of the tense peace Europa had been steeped in, and it is said the Baron has started to take preventive measures to stop any advances the enemy has planned. Sparky families have started to go into hiding, fearing the enemy's attacks and cruelty. The fear the same brutal attacks from decades ago will start all over again are a serious concern. The loss of thousands of lives could be imminent despite all the precautions.

This enemy, coloquially known as <b>The Other</b>, is largely an enigma. Their identity is unknown to everyone but a select few. Without knowing their identity, how is it possible to fight them?'

PAGE 385:

'The Other's inventions indicate a predilection for manipulating minds and brains. Their <b>wasps</b>, known scourge of our time, have the power to enter a person's mouth and dissolve, filling the target's system with compounds that <b>make the target vulnerable to her voice</b>. The person continues living their life as normal, but any order given by the Other will be fulfilled, even at the risk of their own demise. In the present it is known there are at least eleven towns and four cities with 100% of the population under her control, and it's likely more towns and cities have been taken over without our knowledge. There are also hundreds of government and diplomatic officials all over Europa who are classified as her revenants. Despite all precautions decades ago, the Other's agents -- both sympathizers and revenants -- have infiltrated every organization and country in the continent.

The only consolation is that the wasps <b>affect only commoners</b>. Those with a different brain chemical makeup, such as sparks or, theoretically, <b>people from other worlds</b>, are immune to their wasps. It's <b>matter of time</b> before they manage to overcome such obstacle'
