But Wikipedia (among others!) makes no profit, sells no services, has no ads — and cannot even be bought by Google. How do they manage to survive just on donations — and still be at the very top of the list? Can such a model even be replicated, or is it unique? And did you ever made a donation to them, or know someone who did? What drives people to donate to them in the first place?
