@ Intercession
Traits: Clumsy, Musically inclined, fickle.

Name: Melinda "Mel" Odessy

Call Name: The Maestro

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi

She's clumsy with her feet, couldn't dance to save her life. Easily distracted by new endeavors and challenges to the point that sometimes she gets herself overwhelmed with all the things she wants to and how many commitments she sets herself up for. This can make her come across as a bit unreliable, but Mel walks the life of going with the flow.

The flow of the music that is. In a world where everyone has a Gift, whether big or small, a tiny bit of Special in them, Melinda's gift is seeing the music of life. She can see each person's inner song, whatever that may be, and recreate it. She writes the music no one expects to hear or to be capable of playing. When her Gift awakened when she was 10 years old, her parents were not rich people, but they made a decent living. They pulled some money and sent her to a specialist in Gifts who helped craft her glasses that would block the music notes and scripts she would see in the air surrounding everyone she encountered. Without them, she can get a bit distracted and even walk into people or walls just letting herself get caught up in the music.

But she's managed to use this Gift to help others find their way when they've been afflicted by The Void, a condition being spread by a dark, shadow organization run by the mastermind Paris Ives trying to steal or suppress the Gifts of others to ensure that only those she believes Worthy can be truly special. As The Maestro, Mel is capable of helping others reclaim their inner song, which can be used in reawakening their Gifts. Or, if she chose, her power can even suppress them, temporarily (or permanently, though she has never tried this), by manipulating that inner song.

So she struggles with the question of whether she can also help or *should* help those who don't want their Gifts. Maybe some people would be better off if they never had their Gift to begin with (like if their Gift hurts them or might harm others). Is that something she should decide for them? Is they are happy with their Gift gone, should she make them take it back? Does their inner song know their true wishes, or just what the person thinks they know of themselves. They live in a world where everyone is supposed to LOVE their Gifts and be happy for them. But maybe sometimes, wanting to change into who you want to be might be more true to your inner self than staying the way people expect you to be.
