[This comes a few hours later, and there's a good reason why: Walter is out of frame as he fires a homemade confetti canon (similar to the "snake out of a pringles can" trick) on a parlor table in his cabin. There are some clapping sounds, then he comes to face the screen.]

I'm going to have to clean that up, but it was worth it! Good job, team. I was so spooked seeing something different about the barge, I almost thought the flood had come early.

[He winks and then turns the camera off.

Waiting to get tagged into the gazebo grated on him particularly this day. He might take the plunge and gather supplies to have a hoard for arts and crafts in his own cabin. The death threat over video chat in the meantime... screw it, he doesn't regret staying on the chipper route even then. His text top-level comes soon enough.]

It seems that the custodial team has had some discussions since I've left, so apologies if I'm retreading any ground.

But I think it's clear to see (quite literally see) that Thrawn has made the custodial inmates *feel* heard in a way that they haven't under the current supervisors. Frankly, if any other jobs on the ship really are sinecures for conscientious objectors? (Fancy word for "you can sign up for the job and say no to working".) Perhaps the other supervisors should advertise that more openly, especially because slots in most places besides custodial are limited. It's true that you don't have to work *for them*, but it's not yet fully guaranteed you don't have to work *somewhere*.

Planning some different ways to split up the members and tasks seems to be a topic that's gotten lost in the shuffle, unfortunately. The contrast between the two approaches does make supervising the inmates during shifts look like a higher priority for the wardens than anything else...

Also though, Zack and Richter *were* patient with me when I first showed up and was adjusting to my shift, they really listened to any questions I had about what parts were hard for me, and there weren't any problems when I managed to transfer over to the library. (For the record: library slots are kind of competitive and it's very much *not* a sinecure.) We can trust these wardens to do what they say... but by definition, they're working with new inmates who haven't had time to understand how safe they are here.

P.S. Wardens aren't automatically signed up for any particular job, and there's also no one with the official power to enforce attendance consequences on them, magical or otherwise. They just do their best at whatever jobs they do choose, if any, out of the goodness of their hearts!
