Would they be the one to propose, the one hoping for a proposal, or no interest in marriage/the equivalent thereof? Aak doesn't hate marriage as badly as it would seem for being generally anti-romantic. I don't think he needs one. After all, while canon will never give me details *something* happened between a mother being there to birth him and escaping the law with a single father and he views it with the same temporary nature he does most things. It seems nice. Probably not for him. He'd probably ruin it. That said, he doesn't hold it as firmly as being impossible. He'd probably propose in some way where it's linked with a joke or prank... especially since it would probably still suck for him to get rejected. Like, he's not gonna propose as a bit! (please give me a PSL where a proposal for the bit gets taken seriously) 21. Do they prefer giving or receiving gifts? Canon suggests Aak is picky about gifts which is so funny to me, like, you ungrateful little man. I'd still say he likes to receive more than give BUT he'll also just give away stuff he doesn't care about one way or another. He wouldn't view himself as being generous if, say, he saw an accessory he wanted someone to wear so he bought it for them. That's still selfish in his mind (even if he'll out loud talk about how nice he's being and can he get a thanks, yea??). If he gets a gift he doesn't like, though, he is gonna complain about it. "Give it back then." No?? You gave it to him??? 22. How indecisive are they? Aak is very decisive, to his own detriment, he makes a call and fuckin' runs with it, baby. 23. What do they want most in life? If it came down to pipe dreams, he'd like for no one to have to make the same choices he did. A society that protects people, that excises the harmful elements, where good people can be good and bad people should at least hang their heads about it. It's extremely high and mighty and, in his defense, he doesn't think it's something he can accomplish. And a lot of that stems from the fact he can't really, like, imagine his future in a productive way. He knows what he doesn't want: he doesn't want to end up like his father, he doesn't want to be stuck as a part of the problem. So, he picks little goals like wanting to continue his research, or making money, or having a place to come back to, but he can't paint an ideal picture of his future because he knows it could come crashing down too easily. He can't become too disillusioned if he never hoped to start with, that kind of deal. I do think his wish from his teenage years is valid. I think he does want a peaceful life. He just doesn't know how to match "peace" with his own energy and impulsive behavior. He was told time and time again from his dad that it wasn't possible and he would never know peace. And, as far as he knows, the old man was right. 24. What do they think they’re good at, but aren’t? He sure thinks he understands How the World Works which is partially a consequence of his traumatizing time growing up and partially a consequence of being under twenty. I'm sorry, little cat man, you can say all you want that you're not a cynic, but you are. I don't blame him for being cynical given everything but you can't say "doctor don't actually save anyone" and come out looking mature. 25. What is something they think they’re bad at, but are actually pretty competent at? I bet he'd be a good cook if he tried he just doesn't wanna try because he'd prefer to be working on his own hobbies and he's totally spoiled by Hung's cooking in canon and the ease of food access in Golden Peacock. He would definitely roll over and say noooo, he can't help in the kitchen, he's terrible at it. 26. What is something they’re legitimately bad it? Sometimes I think I might play Aak as too adept at keeping his mouth shut, considering canon examples. Like, on a darker side he cannot stop giving wisecracks and gets punched for it by street thugs. On a lighter side, when Hung notices the total on a register is off slightly Aak can't help but go "well whatever it's fine shouldn't we head home I bet Waai Fu is tired," leading to the immediate What Did He Put in the Cart. 27. Do they have any cool scar stories? Ones he's stitched up? Absolutely. This is one of those things where, like, animated and drawn mediums usually fall short. Aak probably has some scars from either gang situations or just fucking up parkour escapes from situations. I imagine none of them are big enough to really disrupt the pattern/growth of his fur but people who examine him closely can probably find evidence here and there. I don't think any of them are what he would particularly brag about. He enjoys being a noncombatant, thanks. 28. When left to their own devices, how would they spend a free day? Research *is* a fun, free-time activity for Aak although he always works at his own pace. He can make an amazing amount of progress in a few hours then roll over and decide he wants to watch reruns of an old wuxia series while snacking. Ideally he'd probably have two big meals with lots of snacks in-between, *extra* ideally he doesn't have to cook either of them. Oh, and having a test subject would be ideal, too! He could spend a day alone and be fine with it but he's just as likely to decide to hunt someone down out of a vague feeling of boredom and then spend time adjacent to them/bothering them. The great news in Golden Peacock is that Rin fills this role and also gets lonely (and cooks!). While it's easy to assume he's going to be a nuisance to anyone he visits there are also people where he's just kind of satisfied to work on his own while they do their own stuff. Parallel play. 29. What do they do to relax? ... piss someone off u_u Aak's not introspective enough to realize what he might need to do to center himself or deal with a frustration so he's much likely to take it out on someone else. The most responsible he gets with things is just storming off and walking around the city. Which, Golden Peacock isn't *as* good for that as Lungmen was. Even though he's spent over a year there it still doesn't feel like home, it doesn't feel like his stomping grounds, so he doesn't get the same comfort from walking through its halls. At least if he's only mildly wound up he can play games, watch videos, or complain to someone. Those work well for minor self-soothing. 30. What is their ideal sleeping situation? Big comfy bed! Locked door that can't be broken! No alarm! Maybe some people to snuggle with, if he feels like it! |
