'...I was wondering if story-wise there was much thought into making more characters trans, or allowing that space where people like myself can see parts of ourselves in them to headcanon them as trans? Again, I want to express how well done I find the LGBTQ+ rep in the game, and how much it means to me. Hades is very likely my favourite game, and it’s still early access. I have 113 hours so far!'

Hey, thank you for the kind words. Even with a big cast of characters it's our goal for each to be distinct. They each have to show dimensions of their world, and in doing so, they often show dimensions of ours. I think the best way to create characters players can identify with is to make sure the characters are fully realized and true to themselves; that they have a particular outlook on life and their relationships. This is the driving force behind how I personally approach character writing. If players can then see themselves in these characters, or imagine them in different ways or in different stories, I think that's all wonderful. I see character writing as sort of a parenting process -- helping nurture a character so that they're ready to go out there into the wide world. Once our game is out there, our characters belong to our players as much as they belong to us, I think.
