//
Now just think .... what if Violet didn't jump in on time to save Dash? How would that soldier, that grown man, be able to sleep at night after murdering a child? Crazy son of a gun .... //
//
Not like they already witnessed or killed a bunch of supers in the past //

//
You gotta admit the sand throw to weed out her frame in the water was so clever //
//
I love that scene, it implys so much. Firstly that the gaurds have fought supers before. //
//
I think it’s safe to say that they have experience when dealing with supers so, it would make sense that they have a few tricks up their sleeve for how to handle them. //

//
Almost 2 decades later and still when dash laughs after realizing he can run on water is my favorite kind of laugh //
//
this is just so accurate to how a kid would react to being able to run on water. Also Michael Giacchino’s score getting louder after this moment just chef’s kiss //
//
I love how this movie portrays Dash using his powers freely for the first time. He stumbles and trips, he runs into bugs, he swings himself on a vine and launches himself off a cliff, he flinched before running of water and then laughs maniacally once he realizes he can actually run on water. So good. //
//
This is the first time Dash really gets to let loose with his powers, and I love that the movie shows he doesn't know the full range of his abilities yet either. He's so excited earlier in the movie when his Mom tells him to run as fast as he can if he's in trouble, and when he finally gets that chance, he's too fast for his own good at times, like running into the bugs or tripping, and not knowing he's fast enough to run on water. He's not doing hairpin turns at Mach 5, or knowing exactly how to run on water, even forgetting about it until he drops into the water because he finally slows down. This movie is still probably the best realization of super speed in superhero movie, even 20 years later.

//
when you realized that Violet was actually gonna take a bullet for Dash but somehow managed to activate her force field... //
//
they may fight, but he's still her little brother. //
//
The bullet won't actually hurt them anyway, Edna made the suits to be virtually indestructible. //
//
First off, those indestructible suits won't prevent them from being shot in the face. Second, at the speed those bullets are moving, the kids would end up with several bruises all over the body: blunt force trauma.//
//
but Edna only told Helen about the suits being indestructible so Violet didn’t know she’d be protected//

//My favorite part of this scene is that it reveals that Dash’s reflexive danger response is actually freeze, not fight or the more expected flight. There are several moments in the chase where you can see he freezes up when he doesn’t know what to do.

Right off the bat, Violet needs to goad Dash into running for it. The poor kid has no idea what to do, he’s still processing his automatic response so it takes a second for his brain to kick in.

At 2:13, Dash realizes he can punch super fast and goes absolutely ham on the henchman, you can tell he feels like he’s actually in a superhero show and he’s having a blast. Then, at 2:20, he knocks the goon’s visor off, and gets a proper look at his face, and then at the cliff behind the vehicle rapidly approaching. That look of horror is just perfect; the humanization of the soldier suddenly brings him back to Earth, and Dash doesn’t keep up the onslaught, unable to reflexively react. He freezes again! He could have easily kept going, but the visor being knocked off really sent it home that this situation was not a game, and he was actually beating the crap out of a real human being who was about to run into a cliff. That moment of empathy and emotional shock was all it took for the soldier, who has obviously been trained out of any kind of empathetic reaction, to get the upper hand.

And of course, when completely out of options in the water tunnel, he reflexively freezes, sinking into the water and barely escaping death.

Such an interesting way to show characterization! This movie is so unbelievably good, it’s a shame media like it is so rare nowadays.//

//
“how are you doing that?!”
“I DONT KNOW”
“whatever you’re doing, don’t stop!!” //
//
I kinda wish they had a hug or something after saving each other //
