I've been on the site since the great LJ migration. I wanted to bring a matter that concerns me to your attention. Wankgate (https://wankgate.dreamwidth.org) is a community that has been a cause of a lot of grief, not just for the RP community, but for DW itself in terms of repeated close calls with violations of TOS. (I think it actually has violated TOS before, but I don't clearly recall.) It breeds distrust, drama, anxiety, trauma, panic, and pain. There is literally nothing worthwhile about it. Right now, it is unmoderated. The last post maxed out comments a few months ago, and a new one has never appeared. The reporting post has now become a bit of a free for all place for folks to continue to complain, ask for the community to come back, etc. Old posts that did not reach the max comment cap are also basically open to all. Were someone to put up information doxxing another user, post slurs, damaging personal information, anything at all, including any comments that violated sitewide TOS, it would not be removed. There is no one to remove it. I do not believe this is safe. Something needs to be done about the community's lack of moderation. I want to be very, very, very clear: I, in no way, shape, or form, want to be associated with the community. I do not want modship, I do not want ownership. I want nothing to do with it. I leave it to the site admins/owners. Personally, I think the best course of action would be, if possible, to lock and archive the entire community so that, while it is preserved, no one can use it. This prevents any further unmoderated bullying and any possible TOS violations. While this of course does not guarantee no one will just make a new version, 1) I genuinely think the entire DWRP community would have their head on a pike (metaphorically) and it wouldn't go much of anywhere, and 2) that would again be up to the admins to decide if it violated TOS. However, right now, there is a clear, open, continuing, and dangerous risk of harm to dreamwidth users in the RP space, and no moderators in place to prevent that harm. I don't necessarily require follow up on this, but if you do plan to do something, I'd like to know if you're willing to share the outcome, whatever it may be.
